A guide to buying my models from Shapeways.
There are a couple of reasons why I have chosen to open a Shapeways shop.
·
|
I do not need to spend time and money keeping and organising an inventory of stock.
|
·
|
It reduces the cost of the model to the buyer as the item is produced and shipped direct.
|
·
|
People have shown an interest in buying my designs.

For me there is one downside and that is that I have no idea of who buys my models unless you contact me and this is the main reason for this web page.
Your order arrives -
Every item you buy is placed in a plastic zip bag, this is then placed in a strong box with ample bubble wrap and or foam around the bag.
After opening your box check the model for damage or improper printing, if all is not well and if possible take a picture and contact Shapeways about the problem as technically your contract is with them, if it is a printing problem or shipping damage then they will reprint the model for you. I will not ignore anybody that has a genuine problem with the model.
Check out my model preparation page on how I prepare my models.
To buy from Shapeways -
You first need to create a log in /user, whilst this can be off putting, Shapeways do not bombard you with emails and you can easily unsubscribe to them.
You build a shopping cart and go through a check out as you would do in any online retailer.
Payment is handled by paypal but you do not need a paypal account.
You get an order number and an estimated shipping date with a confirmation email.
When your order has been printed you get an email with a tracking number for UPS.
Your order should be delivered just over a week from being placed
American / Canadian customers should see prices in U.S. Dollars. The order will be produced and shipped from Shapeways New York factory.
Europe and the rest of the world should see prices in Euros with their order produced and shipped from Shapeways Eindhoven factory.

Additional information -
When you place an order with Shapeways the only information I get is that somebody has bought an item and lists the item, if you wish to know more you have to contact me via the “contact designer” button. Please remember my Shapeways shop is an extension of my model railroading and will get back to you as soon as possible.
All my models have been printed before I put them up for sale, occasionally Shapeways will reject a print and this can be frustrating not only for you but for me also as I have to spend time finding out why. The next problem with a rejected print is that Shapeways issue a credit refund which is fine if you plan on buying something else but can be a bit of a process to get your money refunded to your paypal account.
