Carolina Piedmont Railroad

The Carolina Piedmont Railroad runs from a connection with CSX at Laurens, SC to East Greenville, SC (34 miles).  The railroad serves many customers along its route and switches most of these businesses on the return trip to Laurens, SC after its initial morning run to the BI-LO warehouses in Greenville, SC.  The CPDR crew goes on duty in Laurens, SC at 8:00 a.m. each weekday and usually departs Laurens by 9:30-10:00 a.m.  The line follows SC Highway #14 from Laurens to Mauldin/Greenville, SC and you can easily photograph trains from public property.

Typical Traffic & Volume

CRDR runs a train to Greenville and back each weekday.  Often the morning crew will tie the train up around Simpsonville, SC and wait for the evening crew to come on duty and switch/return the train to Laurens.
