Union Pacific El Segundo Switcher, May 2003. The MOW workers moved their flat cars off of the Torrance Branch the night before to clear the work area for balast grooming. It appears they just shoved the cars onto the El Segundo Branch, and then neglected to ensure the crew of the El Segundo Switcher was told about it. So when the Elsie came over the hill the next morning, they found the MOW cars blocking their way. When this photo was taken, the Conductor on the Elsie job was on the cell phone to the Dispatcher for instructions.
