Description:

Rockford, population 152,871, will initially have a station location at Cedar Street and Main Street

The downtown location of the Cedar Street / Main Street Station is part of a larger effort to revitalize that area of the city.  It will be located across the street from the city's new hotel and conference center  This station is officially referred to as Rockford Regional Multi-Modal Transportation Center.

The old platform and building were recently demolished.  The State of Illinois has committed millions of dollars towards construction of the new station in addition to a $1.95 million federal grant.
