December 11th was the 2nd annual Old-Fashioned Christmas at the Dinsmoor Heritage House Cultural Museum.

It was a beautiful day and many people came to celebrate Christmas at the Dinsmoor.  The House was decorated with old-fashioned decorations.

Many of the decorations were from the collection of Isabel Dinsmoor. A large red poinsettia was on the front porch and the front door featured a beautiful wreath of pine and holly.

The entry was decorated beautifully to welcome the guests.  The stairway banister was decked out with a stunning garland of real cedar, pepper tree berries, and pinecones. Boughs of cedar, pine, fir and holly were wound around the wrought iron light fixtures throughout the house and across the mantle.  There was a live tree decorated with strings of popcorn, brightly colored paper chains and vintage glass balls. The house conveyed the spirit of the Christmas carol “Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly”.

Live poinsettias added a vivid touch of red to the décor. The Christmas tree had handmade felt stockings that the visitors could “fill” with their donations. The beautiful handmade and decorated stockings were created and donated by board member Esther Hageter.

We would like to thank the Home Depot for the donation of the Christmas Tree and the Golden Rose Florist for the donation of the gorgeous wreath that adorned the front door.

Volunteer members conducted tours of the house. At the conclusion of the tours, the guests were invited into the dining room where they could enjoy a wonderful selection of homemade breads, cookies and candies. The table was elegant with a gorgeous tablecloth and platters of every imaginable homemade goodie-from traditional Gingerbread men and sugar cookies to wonderful bar cookies and Christmas fudge. There was a basket of beautifully decorated chocolate Christmas Tree suckers made and donated by Lee Ann Dalessio of the Rosemead Chamber of Commerce.

We hope that everyone who attended had a wonderful time, enjoyed the Dinsmoor House decorated for Christmas, and enjoyed the goodies. Hope to see you at future events.
