By 1970 I was tired of school and wanted to earn some money. For the next eight years I worked in Houston as an electronics engineer. I joined First Methodist Church, and enjoyed the sermons of the incomparable Charles L. Allen. Later I switched over to St. Luke's Methodist, on the west side of town, which had a large singles group. I made good friends there, and eventually met the woman I would marry.
