Chicago's Central Electric Railfans' Association (CERA) sponsored a "Last Trip Under the Wires" trip on the CTA Skokie Swift (Yellow Line). This line had the last remaining catenary of the former Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee interurban. The wires would soon be removed following conversion to third-rail operation. (Indeed, new aluminum third rail had already been installed at the time of the trip.)
