There are several good photo angles here. You |
St Rt 119 |
will also frequently see railroad police here but |
Lat N39° 54.1998' Lon W105° 38.6666' |

they will not bother you if you stay off the tracks |
and away from the portal. |
If you are feeling really adventuresome, you can |
go up CR 117 to Rollins Pass.
CR 117 follows |
the former right of way that was used before |
Moffat Tunnel was opened in 1928. You can not |
get all the way to the summit - you will need to |
park about 1 1/2 miles east of the summit and |
hike the rest of the way. This road used to go |
all the way to Winter Park, but was closed in the |
early 1990s when Tunnel 32
"Needle's Eye |
Tunnel" partially collapsed. Be careful hiking |
this area - you are nearly 11500 feet above sea |
level and the air is really thin. Don't try to drive |
up there unless your vehicle is in really good |
shape to handle the thin air. Some people do go |
all the way with ATVs, including bypassing the |
collapsed tunnel. |
