| If you are feeling really adventuresome, you can | |||||
| go up CR 117 to Rollins Pass. CR 117 follows | |||||
| the former right of way that was used before | |||||
| Moffat Tunnel was opened in 1928. You can not | |||||
| get all the way to the summit - you will need to | |||||
| park about 1 1/2 miles east of the summit and | |||||
| hike the rest of the way. This road used to go | |||||
| all the way to Winter Park, but was closed in the | |||||
| early 1990s when Tunnel 32 "Needle's Eye | |||||
| Tunnel" partially collapsed. Be careful hiking | |||||
| this area - you are nearly 11500 feet above sea | |||||
| level and the air is really thin. Don't try to drive | |||||
| up there unless your vehicle is in really good | |||||
| shape to handle the thin air. Some people do go | |||||
| all the way with ATVs, including bypassing the | |||||
| collapsed tunnel. | |||||
