VCRR 100 (Now VCRR 1704)

(Click on the picture for more photos of this engine)

VCRR 100 started out as ATSF 2196. VCRY bought this engine in 1994 to replace the aging ALCO S6s.

In 1998 once RailAmerica took over, VCRY sold 100 & 1200 to a private leasing comapny, even though they were sold to a private leasing comapny RailAmerica still used 100 & 1200, oddly enough in 1998 RailAmerica got the funding from the city of Oxnard to paint 100 (along 1200) into RailAmerica Red White & Blue even though they technically weren't RailAmerica engines.

During the RailAmerica days 100 was the secondary unit until 2007 until it got a event recorder installed on it, then 100 took the main unit position.

100 later returned to its secondary engine status in 2010 when VCRR got CFNR 103.

And today...

Since G&W bought out RailAmerica and loves putting their paint scheme on everything VCRR 100 is now VCRR 1704 and painted in G&W paint, on a interesting note G&W apparently bought back 100 and 1200 back from the private leasing comapny.
