VCRR 1200
(Click on the picture for more photos of this engine)
VCRR 1200 started out as IC 9455. VCRY bought this engine in 1995 to replace the aging ALCO S6s.
In 1998 once RailAmerica took over, VCRY sold 1200 & 100 to a private leasing comapny, even though they were sold to a private leasing comapny RailAmerica still used 1200 & 100, oddly enough in 1998 RailAmerica got the funding from the city of Oxnard to paint 1200 (along 100) into RailAmerica Red White & Blue even though they technically weren't RailAmerica engines.
1200 was the main unit until 2007 until 100 got a event recorder installed on it, then 100 took the main unit position and put 1200 under secondary engine status .
Later on in early 2010 this engine was put out of service for an unknown reason, the only thing I can think of is the lack of event recorder.
1200 hasn't left the VCRR yard since 2010.
And today...
1200 just stays in the yard, it occasionally gets switched around the yard every now and then but thats it.
Acording to a couple sources sometime in the near future 1200 is going to be trucked out to a shortline in Texas, no more details are known at this point.
