Here are a few photos from the last 11 years or so. Most are from movies at Laika but there are a few other projects as well.

After Coraline, Laika made an alphabet with images from the movie. I scored V and Y. V is Wybie's motorized bicycle. I made two of them from steel and brass. The candlestick on Other Mother's table is all brass.

Sheriff Hooper in ParaNorman enforced the law with a six gun I made from steel using a mill, lathe and jeweler's saw. The grips were 3d printed. Here are a couple shots from before it was painted.

Kids need to get around so I made Norman a bike. It is all out of steel and steel epoxy. Obviously, it's also before paint. I made the computer in the store from vacuum formed plastic and unlike this business, I'd take your check.

The Boxtrolls were very inventive and made a water pump from a see-saw. The model is made from steel and brass.

Eggs lived underground with the boxtrolls and this was the start of his music machine. It really worked so when the keys were pressed it moved the silverware. Its internal parts are steel and the shell is vacuum formed plastic. To keep their cool, the boxtrolls had this little fan made from steel and resin.

This giant chandelier hung on the cheese guild ballroom. It is made from steel, wire, paper and resin.

For Kubo I made a large Taiko drum for the Obon festival. It is a plastic pipe covered in expanding foam and bondo. Beetle's lantern is made from steel and resin.

This small pair of binoculars was for a short called Two Balloons. The puppets had delicate arms so they needed to be as light as possible. I made them from brass and the lenses are acrylic.

I started building HO scale model trains as a kid. This tower actually loads coal trains and was featured in Model Railroad Craftsman magazine. The white box is a trade show model of an abatement unit used in computer chip manufacturing. The screen plays the same screen saver as the real ones.

The next two are made entirely from metal. First is a working steam engine built from raw castings and bar stock The miniature arbor press was made from steel scraps and has been modified to be a punch. In the photo it is set up to punch holes that are 3/32 inch diameter. The steam engine and press are both about 8 inches tall.
