Northern California Free-mo
Module Descriptions
Glen Frazer
This intricately detailed module is an accurate
representation of an actual Santa Fe location in Northern California. The
siding in model form is approximately 1500 scale feet in length. The four
sections together have a length of about 20 actual feet. The Glen Frazer
module set was featured in the April and May, 2003 issues of Rail
Model Journal.

Bay Shore Yard
The yard started out with the three sections
on the left to provide nine stub ended storage tracks. The narrow, crossover
module on the right was available from a previous layout and it lent itself
well for overcoming the difficulties that a stub end yard entails. i.e.
With this arrangement we can now escape the power sets after a run.

Hearst
Hearst is based on a portion of the historic
Niles Canyon area about a mile east of Sunol, CA. This location on the
ex-WP (current UP) main is part of what was the last section of the transcontinental
railway to be completed to San Francisco.

Shandin
The Shandin loop provides the return capability
for an 'out-and-back' operating mode. Its extra trackage can be used as
staging tracks or as additional passing sidings. This five section module
features a broad 48" minimum track radius and was constructed entirely
by one person!
