Description:

Galena, population 3,429, is in the far northwest side of the State of Illinois.  Located in Jo Daviess County, Galena is a very historic city with 85% of the building's in its downtown area (including the Galena train depot) listed in the National Register of Historic Places.  Additionally, Galena hosts more than one million visitors annually.  Due to this, Galena will most likely draw a large demand of rail passengers visiting from Chicago and the suburbs on weekends.

It is anticipated that the historic Galena depot will serve as the station for the city.  The depot is currently being used as a visitor information center.  Platforms would likely need to be upgraded for resumption of the Black Hawk service.
