My best friend during our last years in the camp was Tip. A couple of years ago I made contact with Tip, thirty-five years after I last spoke with him. Tip e-mailed me a classic photograph that truly evokes the flavor of boyhood in the Warren Camp.

From left to right: Tip, Steve, Larry, my brother Bob. Tip has caught a large catfish in the lake south of the camp, and has brought it to the plant to show it off. The boards in the background are the remains of the old plant cooling tower, which needed replacing. The plant workers took some of the boards and built a pier out into the camp lake, which pleased us kids mightily. |
