Another favorite haunt of mine is the former
Atlantic Coast Line (ACL) mainline from
Richmond, VA to Tampa, FL, known in modern
times as the CSX
A-Line.
The majority of the 890 mile route still
maintains a respectable amount of it's ACL
heritage, especially the vintage searchlight
signals. A journey down the A-Line will
take you through locales such as Richmond,
Rocky Mount, Florence, Charleston, Savannah,
Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa. I have
been fortunate to have covered nearly every
mile with exception of the segment from Plant
City to Tampa, a length of approximately 25
miles. The following is a sample of
