I picked up a new tool to make the 1st rough cuts in preparation for either the Lathe or Mill. It sure beats a hacksaw. The saw is powered by a two-speed motor that develops up to 1 hp, and drives the 44.7/8" long blade at either 190 fpm or 256 fpm. The maximum material size is 4.1/2" x 4.1/2".
My first use: I setup
the band
saw with a wood V-shaped holding fixture to hold a
1.1/2" diameter work piece.
I've since added a small drill press vise for holding smaller work pieces, some 3"
V-blocks, & drilled the existing vise base to accept standard Lathe & Mill hold down
fixtures.
