I
received my
Sherline lathe and mill and have spent this past
week getting a space ready for their new home. I spent part of a day mounting
the machines each onto their own rubber-footed boards, like suggested by
Sherline. I’ve made some work space available in a small utility room we have,
so I can keep the new toys in the house. I picked up a 4-drawer base cabinet to
support one end of a 1 inch thick x 4 foot x 2 foot work bench top. I also
captured an existing tall cabinet which will have a shelf for storing the mill
off of the bench top. I’ll use the cabinet’s top to store my spray booth and
airbrush equipment while not in use. I’ll probably put a small shop-vac in the
cabinet.
The room is already well-lit and air conditioned...couldn't ask for anything
better.
Here I am adding a drawer to hang down from under the bench top in the
leg-space.
The drawer handles still need to be added
and I’m going to put something like formica on the work surface. The workspace
still needs a power strip on the bench top.
Now it’s time to practice, practice, practice.
