In the meantime, I had met and married Janie in 1980. Janie was the daughter of Baptist missionaries and had grown up in Cali, Colombia, where her father began and ran a seminary. In a nice coincidence, Janie's father, early in his career, had been pastor of the Baptist church in LaRue, the tiny community where my mother was born and raised.
