The Ph.D. brought a new job search, and subsequently a move to the great state of California. I worked for a large research institution south of San Francisco, and we lived in the town of Sunnyvale, north of San Jose. Our son David was born in 1984. The Bay Area was a delightful place to raise a boy. So many things to do and places to see, all within a two-hour drive. My work was also quite interesting, involving unique applications of radio-frequency engineering for government and prime-contractor clients. My various titles during those years were Senior Research Engineer, Program Manager, Program Director and Deputy Laboratory Director. |
On the sidewalk in front of our house in Sunnyvale, around 1987. Must have been a Sunday; I never got that dressed up to go to work. |
